A trend that’s always in style? Healthy, shiny, luscious hair. But, it can be hard to keep your hair free of damage in the summer when enjoying the sun, sand, salt, and swimming. Keep reading to find out how you can be sure to have perfect hair all summer long!

1. Stay Hydrated

Drinking lots of water is not only important for your health, but also your hair. If hair lacks hydration, the color will fade and the hair will be less soft.

2. Air Dry

The less heat on the hair, the less damage. Plus, NYFW Spring/Summer 19 runways were filled with beach waves and natural textures, so why not embrace the look?!

3. Wash Every Other Day

Washing your hair daily strips your hair of its natural, nourishing chemicals, so try to use dry shampoo in place of a full lather to avoid dryness.

4. Try a Mask

A conditioning mask will give your hair tons of moisture and shine and help replenish brittle ends. Use twice a week for best results.

5. Wet your Hair before Swimming

Yes, you heard me! It sounds strange, but rinsing your hair with tap water before getting in a pool filled with chlorine helps prevent the chemical from soaking as deep into the hair. Rinse it again after you get out for extra protection!

6. Use a UV Protectant

UV rays not only harm our skin, but also our hair, so we must protect it as well. The sun can dry out hair and full color, so applying a protector helps coat your locks with sleek coverage.

7. Wear a Hat in the Sun

Add a floppy hat or fun head scarf to your OOTD and make the perfect summer fashion statement.
